Tallahassee Homeless Resources Wiki is a list of resources for the homeless community in Tallahassee, Florida. Since the format allows for anyone to contribute please add or update this list/information as it changes and becomes available.

Resources for the Homeless in Tallahassee, Florida Edit

Homelessness is a problem that affects everyone.  In Tallahassee, Florida there are several organizations dedicated to the assistance of the homeless.  If you are reading this from a computer at a shelter please know that there are many who would like to help you find a home here in Tallahassee.  A real home is a place where you are safe.  Please use the resources below to find your safe place-for a night or forever.  Good luck!  Never give up!  This page was started by a woman who was once homeless.  You can do it!

Programs for Prevention: Edit

Rapid Rehousing Program (HPRP)

Offers rental assistance for up to 18 months, including some arrears, utility assistance for up to 18 months including some arrears, deposits for rental and utility, moving costs, motel vouchers for up to 30 days and case management.  The eligibility criteria are as follows:  You must have a consultation with a case manager at a funded agency (CACAA 'Susie' 850.325.6418 or Catholic Charities 'Maury Hopkins' 850.222.2180x130 or Brehon Agency 'Shirley' 850.656.7110) You must be below 50% of median income for area.  You must be able to answer 'yes' to this question- Will you or your family be likely to become self sufficient with this support?

Cold Night Shelter Opening This Evening

With low temperatures tonight forecasted to drop below 32 degrees, the City of Tallahassee, Leon County and the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross will open a cold night shelter this evening at 6 p.m. Any individual who needs temporary shelter from cold weather tonight may stay at the City's Lincoln Neighborhood Center, 438 West Brevard St. The Lincoln Neighborhood Center shelter will remain open overnight and will close tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. Emergency Management staff are notifying local social service agencies of the cold weather shelter opportunity.

Volunteers from the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross will provide assistance throughout the night at the shelter, and snacks and water will be available for patrons. Security will be maintained by the Tallahassee Police Department.
